HISTORY - NORTHEAST OHIO AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Northern Ohio Golf Association is proud to expand the NEOA in 2021 by hosting the Inaugural Northeast Ohio Women's Amateur at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna, Ohio. Originally known as the Plain Dealer Invitational, the Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship was rescued and rebranded by the Northern Ohio Golf Association in 1965. The NEO Am has had a history of illustrious champions, headed by the late Arnold Palmer, who got his exceptional career started in Northeast Ohio as a young Coast Guard member in 1953. Three-time NEO Am champ Bob Shave Jr. also played the pro tour, and Joe Ungvary Sr., a five-time NEO Am Champion who also won a U.S. Senior Amateur Open. Take a step back and look at the courses and names who have made their mark on amateur golf in Northeast Ohio through this prestigious tournament.
FORMAT
36 Holes of Stroke Play. An individual competition, in which each player competes against all other players within the respective division. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and its decisions, by the NOGA Hard Card and the terms of competition. Rule 1.3B states that players are responsible for applying the rules to themselves.
ELIGIBILITY
Must be 19 years or older on or before date of competition with a GHIN Number from an authorized NOGA Member Club and be a resident of or attending college in Ohio. If your GHIN number is from outside of Northern Ohio, please reach out to Sean Croell at 440-686-1070 or email scroell@noga.org
FIELD SIZE
Field size will be limited to 36 players. If the event is full, players can still register and be placed on the Waiting List. Players will NOT be charged until they have placed on the active tournament roster
