Format |
36-hole Stroke Play Championship.
After the first 18-holes on Monday, August 24, the field will be cut to the low 40 players & ties and all players within five (5) strokes of the lead. 18-holes will be played on Tuesday, August 25 to determine a Champion.
In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play.

Eligibility |
This competition is open to golfers who will have reached their fiftieth birthday by August 24, 2026 who are:
1) Past MGA Open Champions.
2) PGA Members in good standing in the Metropolitan and New Jersey PGA Sections.
3) PGA Associates, employed at a golf facility in the MGA territory, who are enrolled in the Professional Golf Management (‘PGM’).
4) Head and Assistant Professionals at MGA Member Clubs. See below for definition of "Assistant Golf Professional".
5) Golf Professionals who are bona fide members, with full golfing privileges, at MGA Member Clubs, have a place of residence in the MGA territory, and an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 4.5 under the USGA Handicap System. A Golf Professional may not join an MGA member club for the sole purpose of gaining entry to the MGA Senior Open.
6) Amateur members and applicants for Amateur Reinstatement at MGA Member Clubs with an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 4.5 under the USGA Handicap System.

Exemption Categories
(if otherwise eligible) |
1. MGA Senior Open Champions for the last ten years.
2. USGA Champions and members of the Walker Cup Team from the past 10 years.
3. Qualifiers and exempt players for the 2026 National Senior Club Pro Championship.
4. Past Met Open, Amateur, Ike and Mid-Amateur Champions (age 60 or less).
5. Top 30 finishers in the 2025 MGA Senior Open Championship.
6. Qualifiers and Exempt players in the 2026 Met Open Championship.
7. Seniors who complete 18 holes at the 2026 NYS, NJ Golf, CSGA, LIGA and WGA Open.
8. MGA Senior Amateur Champions for the last 5 years.
9. Top 10 finishers in the 2026 MGA Senior Amateur Championship.
10. Top Five Seniors who make the cut in the 2025 MGA Mid-Amateur Championship.
11. Qualifiers and alternates for all: 2026 USGA Championships: Open (LQR/SQR); Senior Open; Four-Ball; Amateur; Mid-Amateur, or the 2025 & 2026 USGA Senior Amateur
12. Top 15 from the 2026 Met PGA and NJ Golf/NJ PGA Senior Open Championship.
13. Top 3 finishers in the 2025 LIGA Senior Open Champion
14. Reigning NJ Golf, WGA, LIGA, NYSGA and CSGA Senior Amateur Champions & NJ Golf Pre-Senior as of Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
15. 2026 Stoddard Cup team members
16. Top 20 Players from the 2025 NJ PGA Player of the Year & Senior Player of the Year Points List
17. Top 30 Players from the 2025 Met PGA Player of the Year & Senior Player of the Year Points List
18. Professional Representative from Whie Beeches Golf & Country Club and the current Club and Senior Club Champion.
19. Special exemptions determined by the MGA
